Who is eligible to run in elections?
Every “eligible elector” can vote in a metro district election. An “eligible elector” is a person who is registered to vote in the State of Colorado and: (1) who is a resident of the metro district; (2) who is a property owner of property within the metro district; or (3) who is the spouse or civil union partner of a property owner who owns property within the metro district.

The next regular election will be held on May 6, 2025.

If I wanted to run for my neighborhood’s metro district, what do I do next?
To run to be on the Board of Directors for your metro district, you first must be an eligible elector. Then you must submit a self-nomination and acceptance form to the metro district’s designated election official before the deadline.

November 12, 2024
The District Board adopts an Election Resolution calling the regular election, appointing Designated Election Official.
Between
January 26, 2025 and
February 20, 2025
The Call for Nominations will be emailed no earlier than January 26th and no later than February 20th. to each active registered elector of the District. If the elector does not have an email of record in the voter registration records, the notice will be mailed to each address at which a registered elector resides. The notice will also be provided by the following methods: 1. Publication one time in a newspaper of general circulation within the District; and 2. Posting the information on the District’s website.
Between
January 1, 2025 and
February 28, 2025
Self-Nomination and Acceptance forms can be requested from the Designated Election Official no earlier than January 1st and no later than February 28th. Self-Nomination and Acceptance forms must be filed with the Designated Election Official no earlier than January 1st and no later than February 28th.
March 3, 2025
If a candidate misses the Self-Nomination and Acceptance form deadline, an Affidavit of Intent to be a Write-In Candidate can be requested from the Designated Election Official. March 3rd is the last day to file Affidavits of Intent to be a Write-in Candidate with Designated Election Official
